The image is read in this page and embedded in the code as a data: URL. It is not uploaded, and it stays inside the file you download.

More design options

The dark half of the code. Keep it well below the background in lightness.

Covers the quiet zone as well as the gaps between modules. A transparent background leaves it out of the file, so nothing is drawn with it.

Contrast 11.5:1 between the modules and the background.

Presets

PNG and WebP keep an alpha channel; the SVG simply omits the background rectangle. Whatever the code is placed on becomes the light half of the contrast.

Gradient

A gradient fills the dark modules only. Its lighter end sets the contrast a scanner actually gets, so both ends have to stay dark.

The second colour, used only while a gradient is selected. It is measured for contrast alongside the first.

45°

Degrees clockwise from a left-to-right sweep. A radial gradient spreads from the centre outwards, so the angle applies to a linear one only.

Module shape

Rounded shapes cover less of each cell. The centre stays covered, which is where a decoder samples, but a small print of a dense code reads more reliably as squares.

Corner frame

The ring of the three finder patterns.

Corner centre

The eye inside each finder pattern.

4 modules

The blank margin around the code, measured in modules. 4 is the specified minimum.

Higher recovery survives more damage and costs capacity, so the same content produces a denser symbol.

A logo sits at the centre and holds the level at H. Its width limit follows the symbol: 14% on the smallest code, 30% on a dense one.

Encoded text

Encode a LinkedIn public profile, a company page or any other LinkedIn address as a QR code for a badge, a printed CV or a stand panel. The tool assembles the URL from the slug you enter so the /in/ and /company/ paths cannot be mixed up.

When someone scans it

The camera shows a linkedin.com address and opens it on tap, in the LinkedIn app if one is installed and in the browser otherwise.

The path segment decides what opens

LinkedIn puts people and organisations on different paths, and the slug alone does not tell you which. A person lives at linkedin.com/in/slug; an organisation lives at linkedin.com/company/slug. The same word after the domain can be a valid company and a dead profile, so a code built with the wrong segment fails silently — it scans perfectly and lands on the wrong thing, or on nothing.

That is the whole reason this page asks what you are linking to before it asks for the slug. There are further paths LinkedIn uses for other entities, and the third option exists so you can paste those rather than have the tool guess:

  • /in/ — a member's public profile, the only path tied to the customisable vanity handle
  • /company/ — an organisation page; the admin view of the same page adds /admin/, which must be trimmed
  • /school/ — an education institution page
  • /showcase/ — a sub-brand page hanging off a company page
  • /groups/ and /newsletters/ — community and publication pages, addressed by numeric id

A vanity URL is not a permanent address

The slug in a LinkedIn public profile URL is editable by the member, and LinkedIn publishes no numeric public profile URL alongside it. This puts LinkedIn in the same position as Instagram and TikTok and unlike YouTube, where a channel id beginning UC never changes, or Facebook, which assigns a numeric id at creation. On LinkedIn there is no durable form to fall back on: change the slug and every printed code stops resolving, and the freed slug can be taken by someone else.

For anything printed in quantity, the safer pattern is to encode a short address on a domain you own and forward it to LinkedIn. You keep the printed artwork and change where it points. For a conference badge or a one-off stand panel the direct link is fine, because the print run and the slug have roughly the same lifespan.

Job posts, groups and showcase pages

A job posting is served under /jobs/view/ followed by a numeric id, and it stops being useful the moment the role is filled and the posting closes. That is fine on a recruitment flyer for one hiring round, and a mistake on a stand panel you intend to reuse next year — the same trap as printing an event link. Point long-lived print at the company page and let the page carry whatever roles are open.

Whatever the target, print the address in readable text beside the code. Badges and CVs are read at arm's length and often in bad light, and someone whose camera will not focus should still be able to type the URL. It also makes the code auditable: a reader can see that the code and the printed text agree before scanning.

Questions and answers

Which URL should I copy for a company page?

The one from the address bar while viewing the page as a visitor: linkedin.com/company/your-slug. If you copied it from the admin view the address contains /admin/ and often a trailing tab name — cut everything from /admin/ onwards. Enter just the slug here and the tool builds the rest.

What happens to a printed code if I change my public profile URL?

It breaks. LinkedIn addresses member profiles by the vanity slug only, so there is no numeric fallback that keeps working. Change the slug and every code already printed points at an address that no longer resolves, and may later belong to another member. Decide on the slug before the print run.

Can I make the code open the LinkedIn app instead of a browser?

Not from the code. It encodes a normal https link, and the operating system decides whether an installed app handles linkedin.com addresses or the browser does. This is a setting on the scanning phone, outside the reach of any QR code.

Will people see my full profile after scanning?

That depends on LinkedIn, not on the code. LinkedIn controls how much of a profile a signed-out visitor is shown, and it varies. If the code needs to work for everyone, including people with no LinkedIn account, a contact card code is the more reliable choice because it hands over the details directly.

How a static QR code works

Every code on this site is static: the payload is written into the black and white modules themselves. Nothing is looked up when the code is read, no server of ours takes part, and no subscription holds the printed code up. The same property is the limit — once it is printed, what it contains cannot be changed.

Three things then decide whether a printed code reads: how many bytes the payload came to, which recovery level absorbs the damage, and how wide a single module ends up on paper. These guides work through each of them with the numbers.
